I recently moved to New Zealand to be with my partner and we decided to drive from the airport in Auckland all the way to the South Island where he lives. Along the way we stopped in his favourite spots, which was really great for me because I hadn’t seen much of New Zealand before. He had booked us a bunch of motels ahead of time, so we had a rough idea of where we were going. One of his favourite places on the North Island is Taupo, and when we were in Rotorua he realized he had forgot to book us somewhere to stay. We went to an internet café and looked for taupo accommodation and quickly had something booked. It ended up being the nicest place we stayed the whole time, and I really enjoyed Taupo. It’s a beautiful place and I would definitely go back. It was really fun traveling through both Islands and I definitely got a sense of where I now call home.
