Second DVLA number plates auction

The results are in for the second auction of DVLA number plates of 2009. One thousand six hundred carefully selected registration numbers were offerred for sale by auction. Bidders could compete by phone, on-line and in person to buy the number or numbers of their choice. Only 194 registrations did not sell, the others raised over £3.6 million for the treasury ( nearly £5 million when taxes and fees are added ). Top private number plate was 1D which had a winning bid of £225 thousand which equates to approximately £300 thousand after tax and fees have been added and paid.
