Property Damage to Mail Boxes

My Aunt lives in an apartment complex where the apartment mail boxes have lights over them for security purposes.  Last week someone came into the building and broke all the lights during the night.  Fortunately they also have security camera’s in the building and were able to see the people who did it.  It turned out to be one of the tenants son’s and some of his friends.  They said they just were having fun and did not mean any harm.  The police told them that they were committing property damage and they would have to pay.  The repairs cost $200.00 which they did pay out of their own pockets.
