The Importance Of Color In Diamonds

May 1st, 2010

Diamonds come in a variety of colors, but the most well known is the white diamond.  The human eye has a hard time telling the difference between certain grades.  IGI can help with learning the color changes.

Color is graded from the letter D through K.  When a buyer doesn’t have a lot of money, but wants the best stone for their money, consider a lower grade diamond with a strong blue fluorescence.  Purchasing a diamond in the J or K grade that has a fluorescence will make the stone appear whiter than it really is.  This trick of nature makes for a pleasing deception.
