Luckily, because of the PS3′s AV Multi Out interface, PS2 owners who already have S-video or component hd cable will be able swap out the sub par composite setup for the high-tech PS2 HD cables. Surprisingly, this goes for both the 20GB core unit and 60GB premium package. According to Famitsu, a report on the Japanese PS3 bundle reveals that the system will not ship with HD component cables, but instead standard composite.
